What is remote notarizing?

It is a process of having a notary public acknowledge and verify documents online or virtually using electronic means. Therefore, there is no need to for an in-person meeting with a notary.
 

Is it an acknowledgement or a jurat?

 An acknowledgment is where you confirm that the document has been signed of your own free will and that is your signature. 
You do not have to sign the document in front of the notary.  A jurat is where you swear or affirm that the documents you are
signing under penalties of perjury are true to the best of your knowledge and belief.  The signer must sign the document in front
of the notary.  If you do not have a notary certificate, we can provide one for you.

What does a copy of certification mean?

For a copy of certification, the notary will verify that a document is identical to the original.

Please note: Washington state notaries cannot certify copies of publicly recorded documents, such as birth or death certificates, marriage certificates, or university transcripts.

What is an affirmation?

For an affirmation, you will make a vow of truthfulness without invoking a deity or using the word "swear".

What is an acknowledgement?

For an acknowledgment, you will make a statement indicating that you voluntarily signed a document before the notarization takes place. Therefore, the notary did not witness you sign the document.

What is an oath?

For an oath, you will vow to the truthfulness of a document using the word "swear" and invoking a deity.

What is a jurat?

For a jurat, you will take an oath or make an affirmation stating that the information in the document is true.
